Energy Efficiency Improvement Project
HOTEL BAJAMAR, COMUNIDAD DE BIENES has been a beneficiary of a grant awarded by the Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands. This grant is awarded within the call for energy efficiency and circular economy projects of tourism companies in the Canary Islands, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU (Component 14, Investment 4, Sub-measure 2).
Project Description
The work carried out at the Hotel Bajamar apartment complex (Calle Venezuela, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) consisted of replacing the exterior joinery to improve the thermal envelope of the building. The old single profiles were replaced with aluminium systems with thermal bridge break (RPT) and high-performance low-emissivity double glazing.
Impact and Objectives
The fundamental objective is to optimise the thermal performance of the building, originally built in 1969. The following indicators were achieved:
- CO₂ emissions reduction: 34% improvement (from C to B rating)
- Energy demand savings: 46% decrease in heating and cooling demand
- Primary energy savings: 20,176 MWh/year

Modernisation and Guest Experience Improvement
Grant awarded within the Tourism Resilience Strategy in the Canary Islands, under the Programme of actions with private sector entities in tourism infrastructure, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
Actions carried out
- Premium Pikolin Mattresses 2025: Complete renewal of sleeping equipment in all units with high-end Pikolin mattresses, improving sleep quality and guest experience.
- Electronic locks: Installation of electronic access systems in all rooms, enhancing security and enabling management through personalised codes.
- Working conditions improvement: Optimisation of staff working areas, contributing to employee wellbeing and service quality.
